Fire, water, gravel and vinyl!

“The four building blocks of the universe are fire, water, gravel and vinyl.” ~ Dave Barry.

To the kids of today’s generation this will probably mean nothing.  Some of the rest of you will smile and immediately retreat into a reverie of memory.  On occasions I will play a vinyl track on one of my radio shows.  The reaction is always the same;  somebody will pass comment (in the chat room) “Good to hear that vinyl hiss…”  In our digital age we are all obsessed with sound fidelity and quality but;  Is something lost? A record can be held, it has a label and sleeve and a place in a collection.  It is tangible and treasured – even when it is not being played.  People connect with the object as well as the track. Vinyl is making a comeback.  Old collections are being brought out dusted off and inspected.  Collectors are on the hunt, trying to find relics from a by gone age before they disappear.

Pcorn Queen Investigates brings you a good place to start;  Doublehappinessrecords has over 4000 items available across a range of different formats. 7“, 10” or 12” vinyl and more.  The site is nicely presented (needs to update it’s information pages incidentally) and grades available content for condition before purchase.  Prices and postage seem very reasonable.  Check them out – there’s just enough time to acquire an old favourite to impress a dear one this Christmas!

New design launch could make your iPad 2 even more user friendly.

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Jim Krohn has come up with a great design and prototype for making the iPad2 super user friendly and developed the must have accessory for your must have accessory.  This very sleek design will hold your iPad2 in up to 50 different positions in either landscape or portrait mode.  Thos cricked necks and discomfort will become a thing of the past.  With a TESSA stand your iPad will conform to your lifestyle not the other way round.

Why this product hasn’t gained launch support from either Foxconn or Apple beats me (probably they’re peeked that somebody else came up with it!) but fortunately it is being supported by Kickstarter.com  Who… you ask? Kickstarter.com is an online gateway set up to fund brand new creative projects.  It’s both a method of accepting donations but more importantly allowing a company to build up a list of pre-orders ahead of production which then creates a via business.

TESSA has a $55,000 target to get into production.  The stand will retail at $50.  You could just pledge a few dollars to assist this creative entrepreneur.    Or pre-order and be one of the first to have this  must have accessory’s accessory!  If you’s got $300 that you could pledge as a backer you’ll get 12 TESSA stands for your money.  That’s $600 on resale.  For $500 investment you get 25 TESSA stands; 250% profit or $1250… WOW!

Jim I wish you success in the future, you deserve it.  I’m forced to think that, with all the iPad2 users out, there surely 1100 must want the additional comfort of your excellent product.

Meanwhile Pcorn Queen Investigates asks any good followers or readers to re-share and spread the word.  New ideas and businesses need all the encouragement they can get.  Once rolling this company will grow and who know’s what innovative idea they will come up with next.  Along the way there will be fewer cricked necks and a good chance of real job creation.

Piano Lessons World

Ahhh!…  Just listen to little Johnnie playing Beethoven’s 5th on the Swanee whistle.  He’s so musical and artistic. I don’t know where he gets it from? I’m tone deaf and his Dad can barely sing for his supper!…”

It’s true, most parents would like their children to enjoy and participate in music in some way.  It’s also true that the earlier that this is developed the better.  The young learn fast.  Rarely our geniuses just born.  It takes practice,  good teaching and encouragement.  Good guidance and tips is available at Piano Lessons World including:   Piano Lessons, Guitar Tips, and many other teaching aids and good advice.  ”Play a bit quieter Johnnie darlin’… I’m trying to write!   Yes.. I’m sure Grandpa would like to hear you play…”

With all the distractions of the modern world maintaining concentration and commitment is not always easy with young children.  Balancing hard work and enjoyment isn’t always easy.  If you can get it right music will remain with them throughout their lives.  This site is nicely presented using a word press layout.  It is easy to navigate around and will provide you with good support and some excellent resources.

Gotta Go… I’ve got a concert to attend!

Da, da,da, dum!…
Da,da,da,darr!..
Te,he,he,Heee!…

High Political Heresy

High Political Heresy

Political Satire ~ Writing & Cartoon Drawings.

To Pee Or Not To Pee

To Pee Or Not To Pee, That’s The Fish Question

If you’re like me;  Politics is a definite “No thank you” and satire can be hard work.   You’ve got to be in the mood  but (if you are) these guys are worth sharing a cup of coffee with.

The razor sharp writing from the pen of Damocles is accompanied by the equally sharp drawing from the pencil of Hermione Anonymous.   The pair work very well together and are obviously on the same wavelength;   I wonder if the picture comes first or the words?  Perhaps they work together ~ no matter…  it works!

The High Political Heresy  site is nicely designed and has a feel of the great newspaper era  when satire was in its hay day.  The subtlety of satire is lost on a lot of people nowadays;  It requires a little bit of work and time on your part which sadly fewer people are willingly to spend, wanting to be spoon fed every step of the way.

Among the humour you will have the “How very true” thought.  All this is presented in an amazing collection of unusual factoids; all skilfully packaged in a stylish and unique way.

With minimal search Umbraco developers can find projects built with Umbraco. Some of these sites even add free add-ons a developer can use for their own sites. Giving reference to the numerous tutorials online is also a good idea. As a user gets more familiar with Umbraco development in London they can progress to more advanced sites.

The only problem that may arise with Umbraco is installing it on a computer. If a user does not have the Microsoft tool Web Platform Installer they will have to wade through the various permissions and adding of the correct and most recent files for the initial and subsequent set up of the program. A user can easily download WPI and start it then select Umbraco then follow the Wizard. Umbraco developers Wiki can show users how to upload and install the program if there are problems. The Umbraco developers themselves have created a video to walk troubled users through the setup. The site Umbraco.tv offers many tips to new and experienced Umbraco CMS users. The Umbraco Content Management System can seem daunting at first, but eventually the programming starts to make sense and you can get most of the beginning training from Umbraco.tv
