Whispers From The Past…..

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

I was about to shut down my Computer for the Night, feeling very Bored with Social Sites that Use to give me So Much Pleasure. I remember what a Buzz I got just being a Part of Social Media and it really makes me Sad to think that it holds no real Interest for me anyone.

Then I got a Notification from my Very First blog sites about my Birthday coming up, so for shit’s and giggles I clicked through to Reminisce and have a few Laughs over my First Attempt’s of Writing. I’m actually so happy I did because I stumbled upon something I wrote on August 19th, 2008. When I wrote on this Blog I never shared with the public, because I was so insecure about writing for the first time.

Now I’m here 4 years later and when I read this it actually helps me to remember why I stick with Social or New Media and I can see a little bit of what I’ve forgotten makes it so Amazingly Awesome! After rereading this Post I decided I wanted to Share it with the Public for the first time. Maybe it will help Jump Start your Love for being Social and help You remember when and why You got Involved Social Media, I do hope you Enjoy the Innocence of a Freshly Born Social Mediate hahaha…….

Learning Social Media

  • Aug. 19th, 2008 at 12:51 AM
I consider myself a social media virgin, although I’m learning that  I’ve been part of this circle for some time now.  I had no idea that every time I met someone and was chatting or signed up for a site like Myspace I was involving myself in this big thing. Bigger than I even knew and I am loving it every day.
I am especially  grateful to a couple of friends right now, one for asking me to join Twitter and the other for taking me under his wing and kinda helping me threw this whole learning process.
The twitter factor ……..I absolutely love this site, even with all it’s flaws. I have met so many amazing, interesting and intelligent people on there. From business folk to knitters and from marketers to musicians. Mom’s giving each other advice, blogger’s wanting their opinions heard along with politic activist wanting their voice heard as well.  I learn so much from everyone I meet on this site, so I want to thank my pal Scott for the invite!
Now my other friend has been on twitter forever and a day, I knew about the site threw him but never tried it because I thought it was for a certain circle of people, just didn’t know I was part of that circle. He’s really shown me a lot  threw chat and his blogs. It’s crazy how social media is so much a part of everything in our lives. With his help I am learning about creating a personal brand, a good relationship with who I am meeting at these social media sites and getting known.
I do have some issues with expressing myself when it comes to certain conversations, that sort of worries me, because to be a big part of this scene you really need to be part of the discussion. I’m sure that will get better the less intimated I get while involed in certain chats and what not.  But anyway, a shout to Matt for helping me with all of this!
I’m gonna end here, I think I’ve covered what I wanted to say…….hope I don’t sound too much like a lady who has no clue what shes talking about .

Themefield – A network with a difference?

Themefield.comwww.themefield.com

Themefield.com describes itself as a social knowledge network.   So, what do they mean by this and what’s on offer?  Social Butterfly The Pcorn Queen investigates… (Drum Roll, Please!)

Yes, you have a profile with a pic and all the usual.  You can either use this and talk to yourself or acquire friends. (Me?… I like having plenty of friends around!)  Posts are not limited and can cope with all sorts of input.  Here’s the slight difference to other networks;  before posting you have to categorize the post into 1 of 24 themes.  The idea being that you are sharing and viewing common and interesting content with your network.

“The unique value of Themefield is in the fact that for the first time we created a service which provides efficient filtering of the information received by users from their friends on the user’s page according to their interests. The user can independently select the spheres of their interests, but at any moment they can adjust the filter of the received messages and information search by changing the settings of their profile or directly on their page…”

Perhaps not “unique” Themefield, “spheres” does seem a bit like “circles.”  You are taking on the mighty “Oh Google” (master of the Universe) but all credit on your entrepreneurial drive and trying to improve the Social Network environment.  There’s room for everybody and I’m sure you will develop a devoted fanbase.   I am thinking you may need to expand your number of themes from the present 24,  perhaps themes and sub-themes?  The users will naturally give you plenty of feedback as their numbers grow.

Powerful Social Advertising with Linknami.

Friday, October 7th, 2011

If you haven’t noticed social advertising then I guess you’ve being either having a  snooze or going around with your eyes shut.  We have all been driven crazy by those annoying advertisement pop-ups of old (which we have now disabled) but times have moved on.   The fact that you are reading this post is a demonstration of how social advertising works.   Today I am reviewing the Linknami service.  For this I will get a small fee for writing my honest opinion of the service on offer and why some people should investigate further.  This review post will then be available to people who kindly follow this blog or are within my own network as Pcorn Queen, social butterfly on facebook, twitter, plurk, google+ etc.  Only people that value the opinion and are interested in the subject will follow the links contained above thereby generating quality traffic to the site.

So:   Here’s the www.linknami.com review.

Firstly,  Signing up for the service is FREE.

As an Advertiser with a brand, product, service or site to promote you get:

  • Quality targeted consumer traffic to your site.
  • Spread your message through the social media networks.
  • Good tools to target your niche marketplace.
  • Better ranking in search engines by specific text links from relervant content.
  • Stats and click reports to optimize your campaign.

As an Publisher you may be an active blogger or have a good social network following.  Perhaps it is time to monetize some of the time you spend

  • Earn money by tweeting or messaging interesting and relevant brands, products and services to followers.
  • Your followers are interested in your opinion or they wouldn’t be following you.
  • You are in control of what you do and how much time you want to spend.
  • You don’t have to promote something that you don’t like.
  • You can withdraw your money when you choose – no payment cycle.
  • You set your own rates.

I conclude – a good service and easy to set up and operate…  Recommended!   :D

Hello World

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I think we’ll make this first post a sort of get to know who I am post. Who is the Pcornqueen?  Well, she is an average person, living an average although most times hectic life. I’m a divorced mother of 3 very wonderful children.  I work as a cashier, but I have been turned on to trying my hand at Marketing and Promotion by a very good friend.  It’s a hard journey for me but an exciting one. I never imagined myself doing anything but cashiering, I mean thats they only job I’ve known for the last 23 years. I love working with the public and cashiering is a great way to interact and meet some of the most interesting folks around. I think just talking about that alone would fill an entire blog entry.

I am also learning a lot about Social Media, it’s become a passion for me. I’ve always been a very Social person, hell I’ve been called a Social Butterfly most of my life. It’s just gotten really exciting since I factored in the Media part of it. I owe a lot of that to a wonderful place called Twitter, if your not using it, you should be. I’ve shared and learned from so many people from all walks of life, from Buisiness People to Housewives from Artisit to Musicians and the list could just keep going on. You can follow me at http://twitter.com/pcornqueen  I will be writing more on this subject very soon.

There are a few other things I’m sure I could share, like my love for Film, Comics and Cartoons but then what would I blog about in the future. So until next time I wanna say Thanks for taking the time to find out about me…The Pcornqueen and hey leave a comment, because I know I have alot to learn with this blogging thang haha
