The Pcorn Queen Investigates…

You don’t have to go very far on-line before you stumble over cats.  There everywhere.  Kitty smilies, “Caturday” themes, Pussy galore everywhere you look.  Meanwhile it’s a dog’s life for some and man’s best friends are being left out in the cold somewhat.  Well the British (renowned champions of  the underdog and devoted to all things pooch) are starting to remedy the inequality.

Today I’ve been visiting Staffordshire, England and Yay!… I found a boutique!  (Now y’all remember what a boutique is?  If you’ve been keeping up with “The Investigates” you’ll know it’s a place for the smiley people.)  This place won’t bend the plastic too much.

There’s some really nice stuff in here and it’s all dog themed gifts everywhere… Not a cat in sight!

Stafford Bull Terrier

You can tell I’ve come to the right place, they’ve even got there own bread of pooch here.  (Check out this Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the dog figurines department.  There is also a lovely collection of prints (some limited edition) by the artist Mike Sibley.  (Very awwww an very reasonably priced.)

Dog gifts:  ranging from Mug & Coaster sets, to clocks, pictures and figurines.
When it comes to boutiques the British are just cool cats …(Goddamn… Who let that pussy in? They’re taking over the world)… Cool Dudes!

Scotch Egg’s…… So Practical!!

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

I was introduced to these Beauties a couple months ago and have wanted to try making them every since, so while I was prepping I decided to do a picture Blog to show how it’s done.

Scotch Egg’s have been a part of the British Cuisine since as far back as 1738 and is a great on the go food, especially on a busy morning or for those days your gonna be stuck driving most of the day.  The nice thing I found about them is that they cost next to nothing to make.

Now here’s what you Need to get Started, Egg’s (Hard Boiled), Sausage & Bread Crumbs.

These are so easy I wish I had known about them years ago, the First Thing your going to do is Boil & Cool your Egg’s, peel and set aside.

Next you’ll want to get your Bread Crumbs ready, I used homemade Bread Crumbs but you can use Store Bought ones. I added a little Season Salt, Garlic Salt and Pepper to my crumbs for Flavor,  it isn’t necessary, make them to your own liking. I would measure out at least 2 Cups with more on the side in case you need it.

Now to get your Sausage ready, nothing to that really. I pulled mine from the Refrigerator and let it get to room temperature so it was easier to use, you don’t have to, use your own discretion.

I think at this point I would start heating your Oil for Frying.

While that’s heating your going to take your Sausage and wrap it around the Egg  so it forms like a Big Meatball

Once you have all your Eggs wrapped you’ll  Roll them in the Bread Crumbs like so…..

By now your Oil should be Hot Enough, so just Drop the balls into the Oil gently……

Rotate the Sausage so they are all Evenly Cooked, I cooked mine for about 5-7 mins

When the Egg’s are done they will be a Golden Brown….

Now you Cool and Store until your ready to eat, I find whether I have them Warm or Cold out of the fridge they are Always a Tasty Treat, I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

Thank You United Kingdom for this Awesome Delight.

Making Cookies Is Hard Here

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Well Halloween will soon be upon us and it’s the Official kick off to the Holidays. I decided I’d do some Halloween Treats for My Cowboy and new Friends here in the UK, what I didn’t realize was how difficult it was going to be getting the things I need to Surprise and Delight.

The first difficulty was buying Flour, they have a different Flour for everything here, where in America it’s All Purpose Flour, there are also several different types of Sugar here too so it started getting Confusing for me. Really you have no Idea how different shopping will be when you are in a different country. Baking Soda isn’t called Baking Soda here and Vanilla is pricey and in a very tiny container unlike the big 99 cent bottles back in the US.

But after several attempt’s of looking for baking supplies, I was successful in my ventures. The last hurdle was the oven…… this is a painful, horrid oven that mocks me every time I try to cook. I set it at the Lowest settings and things still burn. FYI, it cooked a cake in 10-15 mins and started to burn the bottom, just telling you this so you have a better understanding of what I was up against. After burning a few batches I figured out how long to cook them for, Sugar Cookies- baked in 3 mins.

I guess what I’m basically trying to say in this blog is, you never realize how easy you had it until you leave home.

An American Girls Adventure

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

As you can see from the Front Page of the site, I am trying to get over to the UK. I have a Blooming Career as an Online Radio Presenter and although it Started on iJoyRadio and I am still with them and Love their Station, It’s really taken off since joining the Team of  Aceradio. With that in mind I thought since I have so many Connections In the United Kingdom because of  AceRadio I wanted to do the “PcornQueen Tour” and meet some of the People who have helped bring me so far on Internet Radio.

I’m asking for your Help to get me there because I am not a wealthy woman, so I can’t do this on my own obviously.  The donations I receive will help with Food, Lodging and other Travel Expenses. I will be doing LIVE Broadcast on Location with hopefully Several of the AceRadio Presenters and Picture Blogging besided Micro Blogging the Whole trip.

I’ll also be doing more frequent Post to let you know how things are Progressing with my Plan and How the Donations are going.

I’ve never had a Dream before and This feels like something that could actually Happen with your Help. Lets see how it goes and Thanks in Advance for your Support and Wonderful Energy you send me.
